Switched Play cover

“My mother chose not to tell me. Your mother chose not to tell you. So, you will ust go on home, and we will all just continue on as we have for the past two hundred years. Time to let. It. Go. Move on. Out.

It’s Claudia’s 38th birthday—but it’s also Sandy’s—who has arrived with a birthday cake to meet her birth mom Virginia, dragging her brother Sam in tow. The announcement: Claudia and Sandy were switched at birth, and Sandy is longing to switch back to her rightful place as family. As Sandy desperately inches closer to her birth parents, Claudia is edged out of her family, her home, her life and her identity. Switched is an existential comedy, exploring the fragility of identity: when you can no longer name who you are, what do you become?
